1780, 1782 - Philp, John, Taylor, broad wynd.
1783, broad wynd
Notes:
This seems the most likely John Philp/Philip. I am seeking information about this family.
Note witnesses of births of children - eldest son Thomas has birth Witn Alexander McLaren Shipmaster Leith & Thomas Philp Shipmaster there.

Is this Thomas Philp father of John? No, from later info, it will have been his brother, the shipmaster whose TD I have.
Speculations - from OPR, in 2006.
1. There was a Thomas Philp married Margaret Imrie in Leith South,
18 NOV 1743. Margaret's father listed as John Imrie.

[2. - now ruled out - There was a Thomas Philp baptised South Leith 22 MAR 1734, son of George Philp and Catharin, her name given also as Philp. I have found likewise birth of a George, 19 JUN 1737 Episcopal Congregation, Leith, Midlothian, Scotland. to George Philp and Katherine Linketer. This Thomas could have married around 1754.. John Philp must have been born by aound 1755 at latest, to marry in 1774.. have not found a marriage listed...]

There is a Testament Dative for Thomas Philp, shipmaster in Leith, 3 pages, 18.9.1783 - brother of John Philp, both being sons of Thomas Philp and Margaret Imrie.
