Marriage |
9 Jul 1685 |
Place: Edinburgh
|
- Notes:
-
It's likely that some of the children for whom I have only burial records
are children of this second marriage.
- Notes:
-
Could Thomas and Robert be twins? Or Robert baptized at same time as
Thomas (25 or 26 May 1690)? Need to check records. Robert is LDS
only, and mother is given with a different last name..
- Notes:
-
Working with the 1694 poll tax records, Dingwall finds that "The
occupational status of the heads of households with twelve or more
persons provides an interesting ilustrationsof the urban-rural differences
among the parishes. In Old Kirk, eleven such households belonged to
members of the legal profession and four were those of craftsmen
including baker Adam Keir, whose household included his wife Christian
Mitchell, five children, one apprentice, three male servants and two
maidservants, in a house of only three hearths."
(Dingwall, Helen M., Late Seventeenth-century Edinburgh: A Demographic
Study.. Aldershot: Scholar Press, 1994.)
- Notes:
-
Possibly brother of Katherine Keir. It is not clear, though, whether the
Adam Keir who married Christian Mitchell was the widower of Helen
Cleghorn.
